Transportation is a medium through which people can move from one place to another. Governments should spend money both on improving roads and highways and public transportation. But in my opinion, it should spend more money on public transportation.
Firstly, the government should spend more money on public transportation because it will be more convenient to the public. Everyone in the society cannot afford to buy a personal vehicle. So, by improving the public transportation it will be more convenient to the public who uses it. Also the public transportation is cheaper than any other mode of transportation. So, public can use them without paying much. For example, the people of rural places and lower class people cannot have a vehicle of their own. Therefore, they
depend on public transportation.
Secondly, it results in less traffic and reduced number of accidents. When the public
transportation increases more number of people starts using them. Consequently, the number of personal vehicles running on the road decreases. This results in less traffic. Also it becomes safe for the people to travel because the accidents rate decreases. For instance, when my friend was going to a supermarket on his personal vehicle, he met with an accident due to the high traffic. From then onwards he used the public transportation.
Finally, it reduces pollution. When everyone stops using their personal vehicles and starts using the public transportation the pollution rates decreases due to less smoke and gases emitted from the vehicles. As a result, the health of the public remains in good condition. Also the green house effect is prevented.
In conclusion, I recommend the use of public transportation for the above stated reasons.
